Portage Build Schedule

TO WORK PLEASE CALL AND REGISTER SO EFFICIENT USE OF THE VOLUNTEER FORCE CAN BE PLANNED. Walk-on help may not be allowed depending upon work scheduled and numbers of volunteers signed on for that day.

This is a tentative schedule and will likely vary due to conditions that arise. Delays are expected so check with the registration numbers below to insure you are aware of the work being done on a given day.

Before April 19	Obtain map and lot corner information, finalize plans with site map, obtain building permit, get bids from various suppliers
April 19-24	Excavation, footings
April 25 - May 1	Cement walls completed, rough plumbing

May 1	Dig and install drain tile and basin, coat / seal outer cement walls; install Styrofoam panels on outer basement walls. Build shed for storage. 1st volunteer group day.
May 5	... Continue
May 8	Continue and finish above work and set sill seal and sill plate on foundation. Build floor system. Lay foam for basement floor and pour basement floor. Backfill to foundation.
May 9-15	... Above
May 15	Begin framing of walls. Install electrical pedestal.
May 19	Continue framing of walls and possibly install wall osb sections.
May 22	Continue framing of walls – interior and exterior including bathroom support for Uniform dwelling code requirements (towel bars, handrail grab-bars bracing, etc., set showers in place. Set treated rim board for patio or rear entrance if needed.
May 26	Finish framing and catch up with earlier tasks. Possibly begin placing Styrofoam on main floor walls.
May 29	Holiday weekend. Set trusses and osb on roof. Fascia board. Complete gable ends and truss bracing. Roof may be vented and shingled by others. Place foam on main level sidewalls, tape seams or house wrap.

June 2	... Continue above.
June 5	Electrical wiring and boxes – rough wiring done by electrical volunteers. Heating and AC duct work done by subcontractor. Continuation of plumbing.
June 9	Rough landscaping, set windows and exterior doors, tape off windows, sofit and fascia installation house.
	FIRST ENERGY STAR INSPECTION
June 12	Begin insulation of sidewalls. Finish any above work not finished. Begin outside vinyl siding on house.
June 16	Finish insulation, visqueen interior, hang sheet rock on ceiling and continue exterior siding.
	SECOND ENERGY STAR INSPECTION
June 19	Make up day of above.
June 23	... Continue above.
June 26	Continue sheetrock installation, begin taping and mudding unless donation from subcontractors for this, continue with exterior siding.
June 30	Catch up week to finish any of the above work not completed.

July 3	Holiday weekend. Catch up week to finish any of above tasks
July 7	Landscaping, driveway, sidewalks and front entrance ramp.
July 10	Finish drywall and install attic access door. Chalking and sealing continues.
July 14	Painting of walls. Prepare and trim and base needed (stain or paint).
July 17	Blow in attic insulation by volunteers.
July 21	Continue painting and ceiling, place vinyl or tile flooring in bathrooms and set toilets. Finish any above tasks needed.
July 24	Finish painting, set bathroom cabinets, sinks, set kitchen vinyl flooring and kitchen cabinets. Final landscaping and planting of grass, trees and shrubs. Landscaping may be done earlier and / or donated by some Habitat donor.
July 28	Finish kitchen cabinets, hang interior doors, trim doors and windows, finish closets with shelving and doors.
July 31	Finish above work and clean construction debris, prepare floors for carpeting and continue any above tasks not completed.
	FINAL ENERGY STAR INSPECTION

August 1-7	Flooring installed
August 7	Make up week for schedule adjustment and final punch list completion.
August 2010	Dedication date to be announced.
