May 10th, 2013 Exec Director Have you heard of the VISTA program? VISTA stands for Volunteers in Service to America. It isn’t a way to get rich (but you can survive!), but it IS a way to do a lot of good in your community. We will be hiring a VISTA who will spend one year helping HFHSCA develop a comprehensive fund development program. It will be a great position for an outgoing person who enjoys “people” contact, and writing, and researching what works and what doesn’t for non-profits like HFHSCA.

March 22nd, 2013 Exec Director HFHSCA will be accepting bids until April 5th for the following work needed to build five (5) low-to-moderate-income level homes in Baraboo in 2013:
1) Excavation work;
2) Concrete/foundation work;
3) Electrical: both rough-in work, and finish work;
4) Plumbing: both rough-in work, and finish work;
5) H/VAC;
6) drywall finishing.

ShantyTown 2013!
March 5th, 2013 Exec Director ShantyTown 2013 is coming up! Join us May 18 – 19th at the Lodi Fairgrounds for an education and fun event about housing issues. Kids 12 – 18 y.o. come, build shantys out of cardboard, eat a “Soup Kitchen” meal, play games, hear music, sleep under the stars, and leave at 9:30 a.m. the next morning much more conscious about poverty in our area.

November 12th, 2012 Exec Director Habitat for Humanity was just accepted as a host site for a Fellowship program through The Mission Continues!! The Mission Continues gives veterans Fellowship opportunities that pay the veteran a stipend to work 20 hours/week, for 6 months, at local non-profits (like Habitat for Humanity!) It’s a way for veterans to give back to their communities, show their leadership, and learn new skills – and it’s a way for non-profits like Habitat for Humanity to get talented people on board for 6 months.
